The Brooklyn Collective (Charlotte North Carolina) Sozo art gallery John Michael designs and Kristen van Diggelen Sloan are thrilled to announce Coup d’état - Art Basel Miami, this show will be hosted in Miami’s Design District with the gallery hours daily as well as live music or designated events and in the evenings. Coup d’état is an ambitious and soulful exhibition of artists collectively addressing the powers that will be within an aim to challenge, uplift and propel mines to higher levels and miss the turnmult of our times. coup d’état will feature paintings, textiles, drawings, and sculptures by 18 artist with exceptional artisanship and formal mastery whose works spotlight social inequities, explore cultural identity, confront institutionalized powers and journey to the sublime. The exhibition is committed to empowering artist and creative from emerging to established and to encourage healing and community through the arts. Artist will be represented from all over North America and Europe. 10% of the show proceeds will be donated to the Brooklyn Collective. The Brooklyn Collective (Charlotte, NC), is a nonprofit organization with a mission to accelerate inclusivity and economic mobility in Charlotte North Carolina. The collective promotes visual and performing arts to engage business civic and creative thought leaders. The collective operates Out of three historic buildings ( circa 1886 ) That is the home of many first black professionals. The buildings are the few to survive the 1960’s “urban renewal” destruction of the Brooklyn neighborhood in uptown Charlotte North Carolina as these leaders served in the Charlotte by social political and economic means so too does the Brooklyn Collective.
